Welcome to URS’s first newsletter of the year!
The Undergraduate Research Society (URS) is a student-led organization at CWRU dedicated to helping undergraduates explore, engage in, and share research. We’re excited to kick off a new semester filled with opportunities to connect with fellow students, learn from faculty, and grow as researchers. This newsletter will keep you updated on upcoming events, programs, and ways to get involved. Whether you are brand new to research or a returning member, we are so glad you are here!
First General Body Meeting 9/2!
Join us for our GB1 Meet & Greet on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 6-7 pm in Nord 356! This first General Body meeting of the semester is a fun, casual way to meet fellow members, connect with the executive board, and learn about upcoming URS events and opportunities. We will kick off the evening with Human Bingo (with prizes for the winners) and plenty of time to mingle. All students are welcome, so come start the semester with us and get involved!

Finding Research for Biology and Neuroscience Majors 8/29
Looking to get started in research as a Biology or Neuroscience major? Join us for Finding Research for Biology and Neuroscience Majors on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 12:45-2 pm on Zoom! This CWRU Explore Program event will share practical tips, resources, and strategies for finding undergraduate research opportunities and connecting with mentors. Hosted by Dr. Nicole Crown (Biology) and Dr. Ashley Nemes (Neuroscience), this session is perfect for students ready to dive into research. Find it on CampusGroups and remember it counts toward your Explore Program requirements.

Want to become a science advocate? Apply to the STR Program, a professional development opportunity by the Council on Undergraduate Research, where you will learn to communicate your research with impact and build national networks.

Led by faculty from Biology and Neuroscience, this online information session will cover the basics of how to find a research position for Biology and Neuroscience majors. There will be a formal presentation and time for Q&A.
